The Italian Job

The first Italian Job took place on Friday 8th November 1990. The premise was simple. Take a vehicle that appeared in the 1969 film of the same name, or a later version of that vehicle, drive to Italy, cruise around some of the places seen in the film and raise some cash for charity. 56 teams took place and raised £58,00 for Children in Need and Childline.

29 years later and with nearly £3 million raised, the “Job” is still going strong, Raising money for children in a fun way

This year the trip starts in the Italian city of Imola and takes in some of the most spectacular roads through Europe. Plus there’s the opportunity to enjoy some unique experiences such as driving on FIAT’s Lingotto rooftop race track, as you can see in the photo above. All in we’ll be covering approximately 2,000 miles over two weeks. If you would like to join us please take a look at www.italianjob.com.

The 2017 Italian Job is raising money for the children’s charity Buttle UK. Buttle have been helping children and young people trapped in poverty for over 65 years.

Founded by Reverend Frank Buttle in 1953 with an endowment of £1million, all of Buttle’s running costs are paid for by the endowment, with all donations going to help vulnerable children and youg adults.

The 2018 Italian Job raised £90,000 and Buttle have published how that money was spent.  Sadly, some of the money was spent on beds, bedding, clothing and other items that we all take for granted.

We’re delighted to be raising money for this worthwhile cause and every penny we raise will make a difference.

The Italian Job is an adventure holiday on four wheels and we will thoroughly enjoy the experience. We want to make it clear that ALL of the cost for us to take part in The Italian Job will be met by us. That includes the Mini, petrol, hotels, ferry, food, the lot. We’re paying for the fun, the money raised will be from publicity and general good-heartedness.

All donations and the proceeds from fund raising events will go directly to the charity. If we have a donation of goods or services for running the Mini, we will donate the equivalent cash amount.

We would be grateful if you can help us on our way to our fund raising target of £1,500. If you would like to donate some cash, you can do so via Virgin Money Giving. If you pay UK tax then you can Gift Aid at no cost to you, which boosts your donation by a whopping 25%.

We’re also selling off space on the car in return for cash and/or support in other ways. If you are interested please look at our Support Us page for more details or get in contact.
